N:1.58 is an instrument for precision and optical preservation developed by Ánima Atelier. It is a technical matrix designed with a dual, simultaneous purpose: to combine the monomolecular decontamination of a Compact Disc’s surface with the passive protection of the playback hardware.

Formulated on an ultra-pure aqueous base, it is 100% free from alcohols, harsh solvents, and lipid residues. Its controlled application effectively restores the nominal refractive index of polycarbonate (n ≈ 1.58), while neutralizing the static charge that accumulates due to friction during transport.

The real benefit occurs beneath the surface: it drastically reduces the thermal and mechanical demands placed on the laser diode and the focusing coils. By removing this invisible strain from the lens, the lifespan of classic Hi-Fi and high-end transport mechanisms—which are now irreplaceable on the market—is extended.

By eliminating surface static and microbial diffraction, the 780 nm photonic beam operates along its nominal vector. The digital signal processor (DSP) reads the raw data without the need for interpolation—a clean process that removes physical micro-debris and ensures a bit-perfect reading of the soundstage.

The myth about alcohol and protection against CD rot

The most common mistake is cleaning discs with alcohol. Alcohol dries out the polycarbonate, generates significant static charges, and causes micro-cracks along the edges of the disc. As oxygen enters, the internal aluminum layer undergoes irreversible oxidation, leading to total data loss (CD-rot).

SPECTRA completely eliminates the use of alcohols and solvents.

Our matrix incorporates sodium benzoate, a passivating agent that acts as a molecular corrosion inhibitor. By hermetically sealing the edges and the central ring of the disc, it halts aluminum oxidation, stops the progression of "CD rot," and protects the exposed metal components of your optical drive's pickup unit.
